Back to School with Essential Oils - A Quick Guide for Parents & Teachers
Summer fun is almost over, and it's time to start thinking about prepping for a new school year - and that goes for both parents and teachers.
There is much to think about at this time, and the last thing that is likely on your mind is putting any thought into wellness. But maybe this shouldn't be at the back of your thoughts. Let's think about some things that may be going on at this time of year.
Stress levels go up (ever get caught up in that last minute rush to shop for clothes, supplies, backpacks etc?)
You have that dread that your kids are almost 100% likely to pick up unwanted environmental threats as soon as they start mingling with hundreds of other kids again.
You have a strong desire for your kids to have their best school year yet, and consistent good grades.
You want your kids to behave, and be star pupils.
Well I have great news for you. We have essential oils and wellness products that can certainly help keep you calm, boost your kid's immune systems and help with their concentration levels. Read below to learn what protocols can help with getting kids ready for the new school year, what helps in the classroom, and what you need to continue to do throughout the entire school year.
1) Aromatherapy Relief
For a quick fix, get cotton wool balls, or take a pool noodle and cut it into 1 inch pieces Add 2-3 drops of essential oil and hand out to students based on their specific needs (see below for list).
2) Stress-Less and Keep Calm
To improve mood during hectic times, the following essential oils can be greatly beneficial. Serenity, Wild Orange, Balance, Roman Chamomile, Lavender, Bergamot, Citrus Bliss.
3) Tension Relief
Teaching is a demanding job, so in times of tension, relieve any tightness in your neck/shoulders or head tension with Past Tense.
4) OnGuard Products
Must have items for all your cleaning needs. Teachers, you can use a few drops of the OnGuard essential oil blend to wipe down desks, chairs, doorknobs and other surfaces around the classroom. Try the OnGuard hand sanitizer too.
5) Melaleuca
Always keep a bottle of Melaleuca and band-aids in your desk for those paper cuts, or mishaps in the playground.
6) Focus & Concentration
Before and during tests, or for general classroom concentration, drop a little InTune Focus Blend on cotton wool balls and place around classroom. Or apply to wrists or back of hands and inhale deeply to promote focus and clarity during "foggy times". Other oils to consider are Rosemary, Frankincense, Peppermint and Wild Orange.
7) Wakey Wakey Oils
First thing in the mornings, when it is difficult to awaken sleepyhead kids, diffusing the following essential oils in the classroom can help. Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Peppermint, Wild Orange and Citrus Bliss.
8) Improve Behaviour
Got a rascal in your class? Kid's playing up?
Try these oils in a cool mist diffuser. Elevation, Balance, Wild Orange, Lime, Ylang Ylang or Grapefruit.
9) Clear Voice
Teachers, do you find your voice fading and cracking by the end of the day? Try 1 drop of the Slim & Sassy blend in a glass of water to soothe, cool and coat your throat for a clearer speaking voice. You may also want to try the OnGuard throat drops to soothe any irritation.
10) Freshen Breath
Keep your breath fresh throughout the day, and open your airways with a Peppermint Beadlet before teaching a class.
11) Kid's Supplements
For long term benefits, you will want to give your kids a daily chewable vitamin treat. The a2Z includes vitamins, minerals and a super food blend to help support the nutritional health of a growing child. And the IQ Mega is great tasting and easy to swallow brain boosting omega 3 supplement that every child needs.
